Love is in the air, and in some cases in the water!
We’ve all seen them… heart shaped water features.
Spas, pools, and yes even the ever so awkward heart shaped, red, Jacuzzi!
(The added rose petals and wine glasses just adding to the uncomfortableness)!
You can’t blame people for wanting to be romantic, especially this time of year. So, in honor of Valentine’s Day this month, let’s go ahead and take a look at a couple of love inspired swimming pools. Ooh La La!
If you don’t recognize the name Casey Kasem, you would undoubtedly recognize the late radio icon’s voice. He belted out our favorite Top 40’s over the airwaves for nearly 40 years. Equally one of a kind is the heart shaped swimming pool on the property at the California home where he once lived.
Maybe it was that pool that motivated the asking price for the mansion, when it went on the market, at $42million! It’d have to be love at first sight for sure!
But the original heart shaped pool built in Hollywood, CA was at the home of Mickey and Jayne Hargitay.
The parents of Law and Order SVU star Mariska Hargitay.
The former Mr. Universe and blonde-bombshell sure do look happy poolside, but sadly their love affair didn’t last. Neither did the pool, it was demolished and the two ended up divorced.
Love hurts!
Maybe that’s why this next famous heart shaped pool is actually a broken heart!
For years fans showed up to stay at the appropriately named Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. The Elvis Presley inspired hotel featured a swimming pool in the shape of a perfect heart. Red bricks outlined the water feature. More memorable was the jagged line of dark tiles along the bottom, which stretched diagonally across the pool to represent what else, but a broken heart!
Don’t be cruel to a heart that’s true.
Don’t be cruel to a heart that’s true.
I don’t want no other love,
Baby it’s just you I’m thinking of.
-Elvis Presley
Happy Valentine’s Day!
